Welcome to the new Clone Motor Sport website

We are an independent team based in the Machars in Southwest Scotland, consisting of Fraser Wilson, the driver, Steven Broll, the co-driver, plus family and friends all with their individual roles and responsibilities. We are currently in our fifth consecutive year competing as a team in the Scottish Rally Championship.

The Driver

Fraser Wilson: Fraser is the driver but his role does not stop there. He, along with our handy service crew, is responsible for the building, repair and maintenaince of the car before, between and during events. Fraser is a joiner and it is only in his spare time, while frequently burning the midnight oil, that he can work on his car. After winning the 2010 Class 2 award in the Scottish Rally Championship, Fraser was also awarded the Wigtownshire Sports Personality Of The Year, in 2011.

The Co-Driver

Steven Broll: Steven is the co-driver who's role is to navigate the car through the stages. He is also a joiner and works with Fraser for joiner and funeral director Ian Broll. Steven has been Fraser's co-driver since 2008 and last year lifted the Scottish Junior Co-driver's title.

Our team extends far beyond this and we would like to thank everyone for all their help and hard work as without them it would not be possible. We would also like to thank all of our sponsors, for their continued support.

Fraser and Steven started rallying together in a 1400cc 16valve Vauxhall Nova and after winning the 2008 Five of Clubs Championship they decided to take on the Scottish Rally Championship (SRC) in 2009. Their introduction to the SRC was in treacherous conditions at the Snowman Rally, but found their feet quickly and even took the Class 2 honours on their first event. They maintained the good results that year and were on course to lift the Class 2 Championship until an accident on the Merrick Stages meant they were out of contention. Nevertheless they progressed to the final rally of the 2009 SRC, at the McRae Stages, with the intention of using the event as preparation to the following year. However the pair would not make it through the first stage after an engine seizure meant they lost control and collided head on with a tree. Steven had to be cut from the car by emergency services and both were rushed to hospital but made a full recovery quickly.

They were both left shaken after the accident in Perthshire, but that did not deter their ambition to compete the following year. With unfinished business in Class 2, Fraser purchased another Vauxhall Nova and after a season of mixed fortunes regarding realiability of the car, the duo lifted the 2010 Class 2 Scottish Rally Championship title they had fought so hard for over the past two years.

That success inspired great confidence in Fraser and Steven and they decided a new challenge was necessary. Therefore, Fraser purchased a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 6 for the 2011 Scottish Rally Championship. They would now compete in the prestigious Group N category, which is Class 10 of the SRC and meant they would be up against some of the well established names in Scottish rallying. They knew their first year in a new four-wheel-drive Evo 6 would be a steep learning curve. Teething problems early in the 2011 season would soon be remedied and they were soon posting some good consitent results. The progress was opitimsed at the final rally of the season at the McRae Stages in Perth. The McRae had been their downfall before, but in 2011 they would eventually achieve their best finish of 12th overall and even took home the Group N, Class 10 victory on that event.

Having learned the Evo 6 the previous year, Fraser and Steven entered the 2012 Scottish Rally Championship with the ambition to achieve even more. They improvement continued throughout the year and would finish with a string of top 15 finishes, and in what would be their final rally in that car, broke into the top 10 on the Mcrae Stages - their highest finish in the Scottish Rally Championship. The wonderful efforts during the final rally of the 2012 season at the Colin McRae Forest Stages, resulted in Steven winning the Junior Scottish Co-Driver's title - a magnificent feat for the Monreith co-driver. In the prestigious Group N / Class 10 category Fraser finished 3rd in the driver’s table while Steven finished 2nd in the co-driver’s group. Fraser also finished in the runners up spot in the Morrisons Trailer award, narrowly missing out on the top prize of a brand new trailer. And as if Fraser had not achieved enough, he also finished runner up in the Group N Mitsubishi Scottish Cup.

After feeling as though they had achieved all they could in the Evo 6, Fraser started looking for a replacement car which would allow them to progress further. And when the right opportunity arose, Fraser purchased a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 and will compete in the Group N, Class 10 category of the 2013 Scottish Rally Championship.
